In the city of Gabes, located in southeastern Tunisia, the project for the Cancer Treatment Center supported by China launched on Sunday.
During the foundation laying ceremony, Walid Naïja, Director General of Health of the Tunisian Ministry of Health, emphasized the deep friendship and high level of mutual trust between Tunisia and China. He noted that the implementation of this project demonstrates the growing and dynamic cooperation between the two countries.
Naïja added that upon completion, the center will allow residents of southeastern Tunisia to receive quality treatment and care for oncological diseases more affordably.
Liang Gan, advisor on economic and commercial affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Tunisia, stated that the start of the project's implementation is a tangible step towards strengthening pragmatic interaction between the two states and reflects the deep friendship of the peoples of both countries.
Liang expressed hope for close cooperation between the Chinese and Tunisian teams to ensure high quality and standards in the execution of the project, which will become a flagship example of friendship and partnership between China and Tunisia, benefiting local communities.
The total construction area of the Cancer Treatment Center supported by China will be approximately 4000 square meters. The complex will include a day hospital, a radiation therapy zone, a pathology laboratory, and associated auxiliary facilities.
