GIFT Nifty predicts Nifty50 index growth amid expectations of US sanctions against Iran

The GIFT Nifty indicator signaled a possible rise in the opening of the Nifty50 index as investors awaited the announcement by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding sanctions against Iran.

According to data from Monday, August 24, 2026, GIFT Nifty showed that Nifty50 could open higher, aided by falling oil prices. Traders were awaiting details of Washington's plan to impose sanctions on Iran. Futures traded at 24,352 points, which is 66 points higher.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent plans to present details of economic sanctions against Iran at a press conference on Monday. Meanwhile, the Tehran Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps ignored the threat of economic isolation from Washington.

Asian-Pacific markets experienced a mixed trading session, with attention focused on artificial intelligence stocks ahead of earnings reports from Nvidia Corp and Marvell Technology this week.

Japan's Nikkei 225 traded 0.63 percent higher, while South Korea's KOSPI fell by 2.28 percent. Previously, last Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 closed up 0.98% and 0.43% respectively, and the Nasdaq Composite finished trading 0.43% higher.

On Monday morning, oil prices dropped as traders rushed to lock in profits before Washington's announcement of economic measures against Iran. September futures on the Intercontinental Exchange were priced at $90.84 per barrel, down 1.99%. Gold futures rose by 0.26%, and silver futures fell by 0.69%.
