The philosophy of the German manufacturer BMW is to combine the brand's heritage in driving dynamics with the efficiency and immediate response of an electric vehicle. The iX3 50 xDrive M Sport SUV exemplifies these attributes, offering powerful and consistent accelerations, along with notable dynamic characteristics during a test conducted between São Paulo and Brotas (SP), at the Raceville Speed Club.
Its bolder design distinguishes it from conventional combustion engine models, although it retains the recognizable vertical double-kidney grille. The vehicle features 21-inch wheels and flush door handles. In terms of storage capacity, it has a trunk of 520 liters, plus 58 liters located under the hood.
The interior also presents an unconventional look, notably due to the steering wheel design, the 17.9-inch rectangular multimedia screen, and a wide horizontal panel at the base of the windshield, which displays various information for all occupants.
The front and rear motors generate a total of 469 horsepower and 47.8 kgfm of torque, with the rear motor producing almost twice the power and torque of the front one. It uses a new type of cylindrical cell battery with a capacity of 108.7 kWh. The car supports charging up to 400 kW, completing from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes, and offers an average range (city/highway) of 570 km, the highest recorded in the market according to the Inmetro standard.
The system allows for the recovery of some kinetic energy upon deceleration, converting it back into electricity for the battery. This functionality enables intensive use of the 'one pedal' mode, reducing the need to press the brake pedal in slow traffic conditions.
Like any electric vehicle, it impresses with the agility of its reactions, resulting in vigorous and very linear accelerations: it reaches 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, even weighing an impressive 2,285 kg. Despite being an SUV, the iX3 maintains the characteristic behavior of a BMW, both in curves and in quick lane-changing maneuvers.
