Fenabrave claims that government measures helped only a few consumers

After three days of analysis, discussions, and forecasting, which concluded on the 19th, a report was presented on the state of one of the most important sectors of the Brazilian economy. Fenabrave represents 8,523 dealerships dealing in the sale of cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, motorcycles, tractors, and road attachments.

Sales results exceeded expectations, and forecasts made at the beginning of the year were adjusted upwards. Only the passenger and commercial vehicle segment showed growth of 18.7%, amounting to 1,726,644 units sold compared to 1,454,044 in 2025. The first half saw a strong trend of anticipatory demand from rental companies. However, the current forecast indicates a smaller increase towards the end of the year—8.8%, which is still a good result.

Management comments on stimulus programs

Arselio dos Santos Junior, the organization's president, noted that government support programs provided more favorable financing conditions. Nevertheless, these programs have either run out or have only helped a small number of new buyers among taxi drivers and app drivers due to registration issues.

Of the total affiliated companies, 1,380 dealerships represent 15 Chinese brands (not including the recent appearance of BAIC), which accounts for 16.8% of the total. This rapid growth has triggered a decrease in prices for both new and used cars due to increased competition in the industry. He added: "This is part of business, and it forced traditional brands in the market to act. The price reduction for new cars also reflected on used cars, which are priced below the Fipe table. But the sector is reacting well to this new challenge."
