Experts advise washing towels every three to four uses

People often show carelessness regarding towels used to dry the body after showering. According to health and hygiene experts, a bath towel should be washed after it has been used three to four times.

Even if the body looks clean after bathing, dead skin cells, sweat, and sebum adhere to the towel fibers when drying. Due to the moisture present in the towel, microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and yeast begin to multiply actively.

Using dirty and old towels significantly increases the risk of developing acne, pimples, boils, and fungal infections (such as rashes, scabies, or itching) on the face. Furthermore, old towels begin to emit an unpleasant smell of dampness and mold, which can cause allergies or sneezing upon inhalation.

Over time, the towel fibers become stiff, which reduces its ability to absorb water.

It is recommended to wash the towel after using it a maximum of three to four times. After each use, the towel must be thoroughly dried by hanging it outdoors or in the sun; never fold a damp towel. It is also important to wash the towel at least once a week in hot water using a good detergent to eliminate all present microbes.
