From Dishwasher for 3 Rupees to Businessman Owning a Company Worth 160 Crore

Vijay Verma's life was not always easy. He was born in the village of Bisau, Junhunhu area, Rajasthan state, in October 1978. His childhood was spent under extremely difficult conditions due to his family's precarious financial situation. When he was only 10 years old, his grandparents passed away. A year later, his father died, leaving his mother to raise six children alone.

At an early age, Vijay had to work. He earned only 3 rupees for washing dishes. Later, after arriving in Pune, he also worked sifting sand for 8 rupees. These seemingly insignificant earnings marked the beginning of his journey.

Thanks to years of perseverance, Vijay Verma now manages a construction business valued at 160 crore rupees. In Pune, he owns four houses, and his projects have been implemented not only in India but also in Oman and Yemen. This peak was not reached instantly; he started with small tasks and used every opportunity for gradual advancement.

After his father's death, all responsibility for the family fell on his mother, who was the sole provider for six children. There were few employment opportunities in the village, so she collected dry leaves, firewood, and manure in the forest near the house. According to reports, the family received only 1 kilogram of flour for 30–40 kilograms of such material. In such circumstances, even a small income was of great importance to the family.

In 1989, Verma's elder brother worked for a while delivering lunches to hospital staff, earning 2 rupees daily. Over seven days, he earned 14 rupees, which was a significant sum at the time, allowing his mother to buy vegetables and milk.

Vijay Verma still recalls this period as a rare happiness, as even a small amount of money back then served not just as income, but as a source of hope and temporary relief for the family.

When Verma was in about the sixth grade, he was known for his good performance in English and Mathematics. However, a family acquaintance offered his elder brother a job in Mumbai with a salary of 500 rupees per month. For a low-income family, this amount seemed very substantial. Verma overheard the conversation and decided to go work. Despite his mother's attempts to stop him, the next morning he left school and went with his brother. This decision ultimately led him from Rajasthan to Pune, where he began doing any available work, including washing dishes for 3 rupees a day and working as a porter, such as sifting sand for 8 rupees a day.

After many years of performing menial tasks, serious changes occurred in Vijay Verma's life when he entered the construction sector. In 2008, he founded Sai Vijay Construction. In 2011, it was officially registered as a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP). Gradually, the company began implementing construction projects in various parts of India, and later expanded its operations abroad. According to reports, the company participated in projects worth about 730 crore rupees in Oman and Yemen. Verma trained over 3800 workers within his international projects, more than 3200 of whom subsequently started their own businesses.

The most remarkable aspect of Vijay Verma's story is that his current status is drastically different from his early years. Where he started by earning 3 rupees, forced to drop out of school due to financial difficulties, as earning was more important than continuing education. He gradually transitioned from simple labor to the construction sector and eventually became the founder of his own company.
