The story of Adarsh Kumar from Champaran, Bihar, is an example of struggle, determination, and big dreams. He was only 14 years old when he decided to leave home. At that time, he did not have significant financial support or many resources; he set out in search of a future with only an old laptop and 1000 rupees in his pocket.
Despite the difficulties he faced while creating a better future from his circumstances, he never gave up. Over the following years, he created a platform that became accessible to approximately 20,000 students.
His hard work received international recognition. Adarsh Kumar became the winner of the Global Student Award 2025 and received a prize of $100,000 USD. However, the path to success was not easy: when applying to higher education, he faced rejections from 22 universities. Despite all these obstacles, Adarsh continued his efforts. Now, at the age of 19, he is preparing to go outside India again, but this time his circumstances have changed.
This time, the situation for Adarsh Kumar is completely different. A goal that seemed almost unattainable has now become a new direction for him. He has received a full scholarship of about 3.5 crore rupees at Georgetown University, located in Qatar. This scholarship covers tuition, living expenses, food, airfare, visa, medical insurance, and other educational costs. He will study in Education City Doha alongside students from more than 70 countries. This opportunity has been an incredible gift for him, considering he could not even afford course fees in Kota before.
However, the achievement at Georgetown University was not a sudden turn in Adarsh Kumar's story; it is just a new chapter in his long and continuous journey that began in a state school in Bihar. From there, he participated in global student competitions, collaborated with Google youth programs, worked on various entrepreneurial initiatives, and ultimately won the Global Student Award.
Adarsh Kumar's childhood was marked by economic hardship. His mother raised him alone in Bihar. In such an environment, he keenly felt how difficult it was to get the necessary opportunity, even with talent. At the young age of 14, Adarsh left home in search of a better future and reached Kota. He had an old laptop and only 1000 rupees in his pocket. But upon arrival, when he couldn't raise money for the admission fee, he felt that the traditional path to education and success was closed to him. Instead of giving up, he started looking for alternative options. He experimented with various business ideas, worked on local projects, and founded Skillzo during this period.
Skillzo is a platform aimed at providing students with necessary skills, guidance, and the best opportunities. Today, 20 thousand students use Skillzo. During this time, he received several scholarships and became a Google Youth advisor, as well as participating in international entrepreneurship programs. Through global competitions, he also mentored other students and continuously expanded his scope of work.
His diligence received the greatest international recognition in 2025 when Adarsh was awarded the Global Student Award. Approximately 11,000 applications were submitted for this award from 148 countries. Thus, achieving this global recognition was not just a personal success, but a story of overcoming all the limitations he faced from an early age. The news of admission to Georgetown University was not just an email for Adarsh Kumar; it was the result of his long struggle and continuous efforts, making the moment very touching. Adarsh shared that when he received the acceptance letter and full scholarship from Georgetown University, he was sitting with his mother. He shared that while reading the letter, he was ecstatic, and for a moment, he found it hard to believe what was written before his eyes. For him, this joy was especially special because he had faced many difficulties and received rejections from 22 universities while applying to universities. Therefore, the offer of a full scholarship from Georgetown University in Qatar was a moment filled with emotion for him. He noted that his mother's reaction made the moment even more special.
Before getting into Georgetown University, Adarsh Kumar faced a long list of setbacks. Cornell University alumna John Lew began...
