Indonesian President Welcomes Increased Chinese Investment and Business in the Country

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto stated that the country is ready to welcome more Chinese enterprises for investment and business operations, and pledged to maintain a favorable business environment for Chinese companies. He also spoke out against any malicious provocations or agitation.

These statements were made by Prabowo on Friday during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and Defense Minister Dun Xiaoming at his official residence.

Prabowo positively assessed the achievements and role of the Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue Mechanism between Indonesia and China, as well as the 2+2 dialogue mechanism. He noted that China has achieved significant success in economics, science, technology, and military affairs, lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty, which serves as an example for Global South countries.

The Indonesian president emphasized that China regards Indonesia as an equal partner, demonstrating mutual respect and providing valuable support. Indonesia aims to deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation with China in the fields of politics, economy, science, and technology.

He also announced plans to attend the APEC economic leaders' meeting in Shenzhen this November to further strengthen strategic interaction with the Chinese side.

For his part, Wang Yi noted that under the leadership of Indonesia, the country has overcome various difficulties in recent years, and its national construction has entered a phase of rapid development. He added that the governments of both countries strive to develop the economy and benefit their citizens, and no force can stop the growth of developing countries like China and Indonesia.

Highlighting the obvious complementary advantages of China and Indonesia, Wang Yi stated that China is a reliable, long-term, and stable partner in Indonesia's national development process. He expressed China's willingness and capability to deepen cooperation with Indonesia to help the country transform its resources into a momentum for development, accelerate industrialization and modernization, and bring more tangible benefits to its people.

Wang Yi also pointed out that the development of human society has shown that openness leads to constant progress, while isolation only leads to backwardness. He called on China and Indonesia to strengthen solidarity, trust, and support, uphold openness and cooperation, defend common interests, and achieve their own national development to become a model of cooperation for Global South countries, especially amid growing global turbulence and increasing external challenges.

China is ready to work with Indonesia on the faithful implementation of important agreements reached by the heads of state, as well as the outcomes of the first Conference of the Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue Mechanism between China and Indonesia and the second ministerial meeting of the 2+2 dialogue mechanism. The two sides intend to comprehensively advance cooperation in political, economic, energy, mineral resource, military, and defense spheres to continuously inject new impetus into their respective national development and rejuvenation, as well as to make a positive contribution to regional peace and stability.
