Son begins search for mother missing for 24 years in the United States

Alysha «Krsangi» Hanin mysteriously disappeared more than two decades ago. Her son, Adrian Hoffman, has decided to resume the investigation into his mother's disappearance, reviewing her last steps and contacting the authorities.

Alysha Hanin was last seen on January 6, 2002, in Miami Beach. At the time of her disappearance, Adrian Hoffman was only three years old, and today he is 27. Because of this, he traveled from Australia to the United States in an attempt to understand what happened to his mother.

Adrian began reconstructing Hanin's final moments, contacted the authorities, and spoke with people who might have had contact with her. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Alysha Hanin was staying at the Shore Club when she disappeared. The model reportedly left the hotel to eat something between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. local time and never returned. Her luggage, documents, and other personal belongings remained in her accommodation.

Since that moment, Alysha has never been seen again, and there has been no movement in her bank accounts. The same press outlet reported that in the days following the disappearance, the 24-year-old woman had several scheduled appointments, including moving to a new apartment in South Beach, a judicial summons regarding a domestic violence case, and plans to return to Australia to see her son.

Although Alysha disappeared on January 6, 2002, her disappearance was only reported 21 days later, on January 27. Detectives responsible for the case, according to a letter sent to the family in 2008, believe the young woman may be dead, raising suspicions that she was a victim of a crime. Despite this, no one has been formally charged to date, and the investigation remains active.

Adrian explained to the Herald newspaper that the main factor motivating his action was reaching the same age as his mother at the time of her disappearance, 24 years old. He summarized the situation by saying that she simply vanished. The young man also shared childhood memories, such as being taken to Sea World to watch whales and swim with his mother, as well as being dropped off at daycare.

Adrian, who was raised by his grandmother in Australia after his father's suicide, always talked about his mother and what might have happened. As a child, he speculated about her fate; as an adult, he began questioning more about her origin and his mother. He observed that he could justify his father's behavior, but his mother's disappearance was something he could not comprehend.

These doubts drove him to start his own investigation, consulting online forums about the case and searching for his mother's name for new information. In January 2023, a Herald article appeared requesting data about Alysha's disappearance, which at the time was a closed case. Before that, he believed the media would not care about the case, thinking she had been forgotten.

Thus, he decided to contact the Herald newspaper and began his search for answers. Over the last three years, he has collected data, contacted Hanin's friends, and explored numerous theories. He also analyzed documents from a private detective hired by his grandmother after Hanin's disappearance and created the website Finding Alysha.

The Tampa Bay Times reported that there is only a two-page police report. This document mentions Mark Guariglia, an ex-boyfriend, who is pointed to as a suspect due to the history of domestic violence between him and Hanin. Alysha Hanin allegedly spent New Year's Eve with Guariglia, five days before she disappeared.

The Herald contacted Mark, who informed the newspaper that he had been questioned at the time and was not considered a suspect in the case. He also stated that he was unaware of the disappearance and denied that Hanin worked as a prostitute, concluding with the phrase: 'It is regrettable what happened.' The same newspaper highlights that Mark and Alysha faced several problems with the police during their relationship, and that on January 1, 2002, the then-boyfriend allegedly pushed and assaulted the 24-year-old woman.

Adrian believes that the authorities have not made much progress in the disappearance investigation, suggesting that this may be related to his mother's lifestyle, which included parties and drug use. Since arriving in Miami, Adrian has focused on retracing Hanin's final steps, as he believes she was murdered.

Girl missing 13 years ago found after 12 years; investigation started with a social media post

Police in Amreli, Gujarat state, solved a 12-year-old missing person case through technical analysis and the use of social media. In 2014, a report was filed at the Amreli police station regarding the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl, leading to cases filed under kidnapping and the POCSO act.

Over the years, the case became complicated: more than ten inspectors succeeded each other, but the girl was never found. Recently, the anti-human trafficking unit resumed work on this old case, starting an investigation based on old documents and technical data. The main information available to the police included old photos of the girl, her date of birth, and details about her family.

A team of female police officers was formed to search for the girl. Using the girl's date of birth, the team checked over 1500 accounts on Instagram and Facebook. During this search, a suspicious account was discovered that had posted 'Happy Birthday' on the girl's birthday. This post became a crucial turning point for the police. The team began studying the photos and other information associated with this account.

A taxi was spotted in one of the photos. The police used this vehicle as the basis for further investigation and contacted the RTO to identify the taxi. Based on the taxi number, they obtained the mobile phone number of the owner. Checking this number revealed that it was used to open an account at Gujarat Gramin Bank.

The information about the bank account became another significant key for the investigation. The same old photo of the girl from when she went missing was used to identify the account holder. After the photos matched, the police suspicions increased. Nevertheless, the main task remained establishing the exact location of the girl and the man she lived with.

Based on the bank data, the police traveled to the village of Bhalgamanda, which is part of the Khalvad tehsil in Morbi district, where the girl might have been. To avoid suspicion from local residents and not reveal the girl's identity, the police officers disguised themselves as teachers conducting a census. The team began gathering information about the houses in the village.

After checking about five to seven houses, the group reached a suspicious residence where a young woman resided who had given a different name. To confirm her identity, the police asked her about her hometown and her father's name. The police explained that if her registration was processed in her hometown, she would not be able to receive government benefits here, so stating her father's name was crucial. As soon as the girl stated her father's real name, it matched the name provided in the missing person report filed in 2014. Following this, the police confirmed that she was the same girl who had been missing for 12 years.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the young man with whom the girl lived worked as a taxi driver. The police invited him home under the pretext of participating in the census. As soon as they arrived at his house, the police detained him. The investigation showed that in 2014, the minor had a conflict with her own mother, after which she left home in anger. She spent about two or three days at the Rajkot bus stand, where she was cared for by one person. She then came into contact with this person, and according to the police, this person later arranged their wedding according to social customs.

The girl whom the family lost in 2014 was found after 12 years at the age of 26, and her life changed drastically. According to police information, she now lives with her family and is the mother of four children. As part of the old case, the police initiated legal proceedings against the girl's current husband, and he was sent to prison. Thus, the case, which remained unsolved for 12 years, was resolved thanks to a clue obtained from a 'Happy Birthday' post on social media.
