Tashkent is considering the creation of 'park-and-ride' parking lots near two metro stations

The possibility of creating parking lots near Tashkent Metro stations located not far from the Tashkent region for serving passengers using public transport may be realized. Specialists are currently determining suitable locations together with the administration of Tashkent city, according to Yuldash Yusupov, Deputy Head of JSC 'Tashkent Metro', in an interview with Kun.uz.

This project aims to create infrastructure that will allow residents and visitors to leave their private cars near metro stations and then transfer to the underground network. According to Yusupov, this initiative will provide drivers with the opportunity to park safely and reach their workplaces on time.

Furthermore, using the metro instead of driving a private car around the capital is intended to reduce household fuel costs by encouraging passengers to combine trips by private transport with the use of public transport.

Locations Under Consideration

Initial locations under consideration include areas near the Olmazor station on the Chilkanzar line and the Turkiston station on the Yunusabad line. Specialists are searching for suitable plots that can subsequently be integrated into the respective metro lines.

Passengers who leave their cars at the planned lots and transfer to the metro may also receive travel bonuses. Yusupov noted: 'If our citizens, that is, passengers, leave their car at the parking lot and go down into the metro, they will be offered various types of benefits, or, as people say, discounts, to make the metro trip cheaper.'

Work on organizing the parking infrastructure continues in coordination with the Tashkent city administration.
