White hair has become noticeable not only with age but also at a younger age. Because of this, many people regularly visit beauty salons, spending significant amounts of money on coloring. In salons, chemical dyes are often used to give gray hair a black color. Although these dyes provide an instant black color, they harm the hair, making it dry and dull due to the chemicals they contain.
As a result, a large number of people resort to various folk and home methods to give their hair a dark shade. If you want to try a natural alternative, you can use a homemade dye prepared from tea bags. This recipe uses ingredients such as tea bags, cloves, curry leaves, and turmeric. This method can temporarily give white hair a deeper shade.
Preparing the Homemade Dye
To create this homemade dye, several components need to be prepared. First, take a cast iron pot or pan and lightly fry the tea bags, cloves, and almonds in it. Then, add half a cup of water and about one teaspoon of the prepared mixture (without adding the almonds). The water should be boiled until its volume is reduced by about half. After that, the mixture is strained and set aside.
Next, the remaining mixture of tea bags and cloves needs to be slowly fried over low heat. When the color of the mixture becomes rich, turmeric and dried curry leaves are added to it. All ingredients are fried until completely dry. After that, the heat is turned off, the mixture is allowed to cool, and then ground and strained to obtain the finished powder of the homemade dye.
Methods of Application to Hair
If a deeper color is required, the prepared powder should be mixed with a small amount of coconut oil to form a paste. This paste is then applied to white hair using a comb. After the paste has acted for some time, the hair is washed. To achieve a lighter brown shade, it is recommended to add a little cocoa powder to the mixture. However, it should be noted that the color achieved with such homemade mixtures may vary for each person, and it is not a permanent coloring agent.
Furthermore, the water obtained during the initial stage of preparing the tea bags can be used for washing hair. For cleansing, this water can be mixed with a small amount of shampoo and an Vitamin E capsule. It is important to note that there is no scientific evidence that this home remedy will permanently turn gray hair black; it can only temporarily give it a dark or black shade. Before use, always perform a patch test on a small area of skin, such as behind the ear or on the hand, to rule out irritation, itching, or redness.
