Meghan Markle may return to acting through her participation in the Netflix series 'The Gentlemen'. Variety reported that the Duchess of Sussex is in talks to join the third season of the Netflix project 'The Gentlemen', shortly after news emerged about her potential return to acting after returning to the UK.
The series, starring Theo James, has not yet received official renewal for a third season. He plays an aristocratic soldier who inherits his late father's vast estate, only to discover it is the site of a secret cannabis business. The first season of the show was a major success for the streaming platform, and the second season is set to premiere on September 3rd. Details of Markle's potential role have not been disclosed, and it is understood that negotiations are in the very early stages, without a signed contract.
Meghan Markle's return to acting within the Netflix series seems logical, given that she and the brand Prince's Archewell Productions already have an agreement with the streaming service. Through this agreement, they jointly created the lifestyle show 'With Love, Meghan' by Markle, which promoted her As Ever brand, as well as the documentaries 'Heart of Invictus' and 'Harry & Meghan'.
Representatives for Meghan Markle and Netflix declined to comment on the matter. Earlier, on Friday, the Australian resource News.com.au reported that the Duchess had been 'offered a role in an upcoming project filmed in the UK'. Sources close to the Sussexes did not deny this information but added that more details are not being released yet.
This news followed the unexpected announcement by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on Wednesday that they would be returning to the UK with their two children for a 'lengthy period' after six years living in California. Meghan Markle is best known for her breakthrough role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama 'Suits', in which she starred for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018. After marrying Prince Harry in 2018, she largely stepped away from acting, though she will appear in a cameo in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy 'Close Personal Friends' alongside Brie Larson and Lily Collins. Deadline Hollywood was the first to report on Markle's possible involvement in 'The Gentlemen'.
