Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML) has sold 400 thousand electric vehicles in the Indian market. This company has become the first commercial vehicle manufacturer in India to achieve this milestone. Furthermore, for the last four consecutive years, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility has been the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in India.
The company's portfolio includes various electric three-wheeled vehicles. In connection with this, a video was released featuring Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, as well as Suman Mishra, CEO and MD of MLMML.
Anand Mahindra commented on the company's achievement, stating: 'What I like most is that what we call 'last mile mobility' is becoming the first step towards an electric vehicle revolution in India.'
He noted that electric three-wheeled vehicles will be the first vehicle category whose cost will be comparable to gasoline and diesel cars. Due to their large-scale commercial use, operators will be able to recoup initial costs through reduced daily operating and maintenance expenses.
Currently, the cost of electric vehicles is higher than that of gasoline and diesel cars, causing hesitation among many buyers. However, in the case of commercial transport, operational and maintenance costs are the deciding factor. The operating and service costs for electric commercial vehicles are low, allowing for a quick compensation of large initial investments.
He added that they always knew that due to intensive commercial use, three-wheeled vehicles would first reach a price level comparable to fossil fuel vehicles. Electric commercial vehicles from Mahindra have covered a total distance of over 9 billion kilometers. According to the company, during this time, these vehicles have prevented the emission of 185 thousand metric tons of carbon dioxide. Anand Mahindra considers this achievement more significant than production and sales figures.
