Mitchell Starc sets record, becomes best bowler in WTC history

The first day of the second Test between Australia and Bangladesh proved to be extremely tense and dramatic. By the end of the day, Australia managed to overcome initial difficulties and gain control over Bangladesh, leading the team by 101 runs.

Under the pressure of strong play from Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, the Bangladesh team suffered a defeat, losing only 64 runs. It seemed that the Australian batsmen would easily secure the victory, but Shoriful Islam demonstrated powerful play, dismantling the top order of the Australian lineup.

Shoriful Islam took 6 wickets. At a critical moment, Steve Smith (42 runs) and Cameron Green took responsibility. After Smith returned to the pavilion, Green continued to hold firm on the field, scoring a half-century and bringing the team's score to 165/8. At the end of the day, Green (51*) and Leon (10*) remained on the field.

Prior to this, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc caused a sensation with his lethal bowling. When the Australian team came out first after the toss, Starc started the match by taking a wicket, which undermined Bangladesh's innings. He took 6 wickets, conceding only 12 runs with his spin, which resulted in the entire Bangladesh team being dismissed for just 64 runs.

Thanks to this powerful spin bowler, Mitchell Starc has become the best bowler in the history of the World Test Championship (WTC). His statistics now include 230 wickets in 56 matches. In this ranking, he has surpassed his own captain, Pat Cummins, and spinner Nathan Lyon (both with 225 wickets). The fourth spot in the list is occupied by Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (195 wickets), and fifth by Jasprit Bumrah (185 wickets).

Furthermore, thanks to these achievements, Starc now has 440 wickets in Test matches. He has overtaken legendary South African fast bowler Dale Steyn (439 wickets), taking the tenth position in the all-time list.
