Public outcry has erupted in India after the family of a six-year-old kindergarten student reported that he lost consciousness during a lesson after a teacher administered physical punishment to him.
The boy, named Pranay Teja, was studying at a private school in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. His relatives stated that on Thursday morning he went home in good health and high spirits, but later an urgent call came in about a sharp deterioration in his condition.
Doctors confirmed the boy's death upon arrival at King George Hospital. According to video footage from the school's surveillance cameras, Pranay's father told the police that the teacher was fiercely scolding the boy and allegedly hitting him with a stick for incomplete schoolwork. The family claimed that the child became frightened before losing consciousness in the classroom.
Police Inspector Budi Vara Prasad stated that preliminary information indicates the child lost consciousness after the teacher's reprimand. A criminal case has been filed based on the family's complaint. Meanwhile, authorities have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

This incident quickly went viral across Indian social media, where users demanded accountability from both the teacher and the school administration. Many critics argue that this case demonstrates the danger of harsh discipline and excessive pressure on young children. Some online discussions suggest the boy might have suffered a heart attack due to intense fear and stress, although officials have not yet confirmed the cause of death.

Senior leader of the ruling party, Telugu Desam Bala Srinivasa Rao, stated that the state Education Minister Nara Lokesh has formed an investigative committee to examine the circumstances leading to the child's death. Authorities clarified that further actions will depend on the committee's findings and the results of the medical examination.
