Delhi University has taken a significant step to fill vacant seats in its colleges by allowing student admission based on scores obtained in the 12th grade instead of using CUET results.
Admission will be based on a ranking, and candidates must meet the required qualifications for the chosen program. Specific conditions have been set for admission. The university clarified that the admission procedure based on 12th-grade results applies only to those colleges and courses specified in the university's notification, and only to applicants who have not previously studied in DU colleges.
Typically, admission to Delhi University is based on CUET-UG results. However, after counseling rounds, a significant number of vacant seats remain in many colleges. To resolve this issue, the university decided to provide an opportunity for admission into 11 colleges based on 12th-grade marks.
Among the programs available for admission are BA (Honours) courses in disciplines such as Hindi, Sanskrit, Farsi, Urdu, Punjabi, Geography, History, Political Science, Hindi Journalism, and Social Work. Additionally, BSc (Honours) in Physics, Mathematics, and Home Science, as well as BCom and BCom (Honours), are available.
Many BA programs include combinations of subjects such as History, Political Science, Sanskrit, Hindi, Economics, Mathematics, Geography, Music, Philosophy, Sociology, Social Sciences, Computer Applications, Psychology, and Education.
This admission option will benefit students who did not participate in the CUET program, or who participated but received low scores and were unable to gain admission.
