Wang Zhiyi and Han Yue advance to the quarterfinals of the BWF World Championships women's singles

Chinese athletes Wang Zhiyi and Han Yue reached the quarterfinals of the BWF World Championships women's singles event, which was held in New Delhi on Thursday. Meanwhile, Chen Yufei was eliminated from the tournament after a three-set match against Thai athlete Pornpavith Chochuwong.

Wang defeated Indian P.V. Sindhu with a score of 21-11, 15-21, 21-17. Han overcame Kim Ga-eun from South Korea with a score of 21-19, 20-22, 21-14. Chochuwong's victory over Chen was 15-21, 25-23, 21-17.

The campaign of Chinese men in the singles event ended with Li Shifeng's defeat by Japanese player Kodai Naraoki with a score of 13-21, 23-21, 21-11.

Lian Weikang and Wang Chan qualified for the men's doubles quarterfinals, defeating the Danish pair consisting of Kim Astrup and Anders Skårrup Rasmussen with a score of 22-20, 8-21, 21-19. Hu Zheyuan and Lin Xiangyi beat Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Westergard with a score of 21-14, 16-21, 21-16.

Three Chinese pairs advanced in the women's doubles event. Liu Shenshu and Tan Ning defeated Gabriela Stoeva and Stefanie Stoeva from Bulgaria with a score of 21-16, 21-18. Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian beat the Taipei pair consisting of Se Pei-shan and Hung En-zu with a score of 21-11, 21-18. Li Yizhen and Luo Xumin defeated Xu Ya-qing and Sun Yixuan with a score of 21-13, 21-15.

China also won all four matches in the mixed doubles event. Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongpin defeated Youta Watanabe and Mai Taguchi from Japan with a score of 21-19, 21-18. Jian Zhenban and Wei Yasin beat the Thai pair consisting of Pakkaporn Teeraratsakul and Sapsiri Taerattanachai with a score of 21-12, 21-17.

Chen Xin and Zhang Chi defeated the Malaysian pair consisting of Goh Soon Huat and Sewon Jemli Lai with a score of 21-15, 21-12. Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanhui completed China's triumph in the mixed doubles event, beating Dhruv Kapil and Tanisha Crasto from India with a score of 21-16, 21-5.

Se and Ostapenko won the first set 6-3, and then maintained their advantage in the second, more intense set. Gao and Mladenovic were unable to provoke a decisive tie-break, and their opponents finished the match with a score of 6-4.

The defeat in Cincinnati put an end to the winning streak of Gao and Mladenovic, which began after they won the women's doubles title at Wimbledon in July.
