Yaku: Sustainable Urban Runoff Management Module Implemented in Isla Tortuga Park

The Yaku prototype, which means 'water' in Kichwa, was selected for implementation in Isla Tortuga Park, located in northern Quito, Ecuador. This modular urban module integrates public areas, sustainable rainwater management, and biodiversity promotion.

The Yaku concept allows it to be installed on various surfaces. Its main purpose is to collect rainwater, store it, and facilitate its infiltration into the soil, thus replicating the natural hydrological cycle.

In addition to offering a welcoming place for staying in the public space, Yaku also aims to raise awareness about the essential connection between water and the urban environment.
