Google announced on August 21st the availability of the Google AI Plus subscription free of charge for university students residing in Brazil. This package incorporates artificial intelligence tools aimed at academic organization and research, integrated with Gemini.
This offer provides a higher usage limit for Gemini's AI models and access to specific functionalities. Although there is mention of a similar program launched a year ago, this new round of free access is valid for twelve months and has been periodically renewed by the company.
There was a change in the offer level: previously, Google granted free access to the most expensive plan, Google AI Pro, which included 2 TB of cloud storage. In this edition, the plan was adjusted, changing from R$ 96.99 to R$ 23.99 (in the version that includes YouTube Premium Lite).
Currently, Google AI Pro presents superior capabilities to the plan offered last year, as it adds 5 TB of total storage and increases document processing capacity and access to Pro models.
The benefit is intended for university students over 18 years old who are enrolled in higher education institutions, applicable to both new registrants and those who have used the service in previous cycles.
To activate the free service, the process follows the promotional trial model: after the 12-month period, the service will automatically start charging the standard monthly fee of R$ 24.99.
The renewal of benefits for students is aligned with the consolidation of various useful features for this audience into a new hub within the tool. Among these new features are study notebooks for automatic lesson plan creation, conversion of notes into quizzes, and performance monitoring.
Additionally, Google highlights that last year, it implemented interactive ENEM simulations in both Gemini and the Search tool. It is important to note that the use of Gemini by adolescents between 13 and 17 years old requires parental authorization and can be controlled through Google Family Link.
