How to make mustard oil at home from yellow mustard to avoid market counterfeits

Reports of adulteration in market mustard oil have become common. Amid growing health awareness, everyone strives to use pure and organic products. If you also do not want to compromise between food taste and your family's health, the best solution may be the yellow mustard kept in your kitchen.

Oil made from yellow mustard not only has a light and easily digestible taste but is also very healthy due to its pungent aroma and properties. You can very easily prepare 100% pure and pungent oil from yellow mustard right at home, without using heavy equipment. A complete and simple instruction for preparation is provided below.

First, the yellow mustard must be thoroughly cleaned and dried in the sun for two to three hours to completely remove moisture. After that, the dry mustard should be lightly roasted in a frying pan over low heat for 1-2 minutes; this will help release the oil more easily and enhance the pungency.

Next, after slightly cooling the mustard, place it in a blender bowl and pulse until it reaches a coarse powder consistency. Add 1-2 teaspoons of warm water to this powder and knead by hand; this will allow the natural oil contained in the mustard to begin separating.

Then, turn on the blender again to turn this mixture into a thick paste, and then knead it well with your palms. Place the finished paste in a clean cotton or muslin cloth, make a pouch from it, and squeeze hard to extract the oil.

The resulting pure oil should be left in a glass bowl for 1-2 hours so that fine particles settle at the bottom and the pure oil rises to the surface. Finally, strain the finished pure pungent oil and pour it into a clean glass bottle. It can be used both for cooking and for massage.
