Top 10 Most Expensive Transfers in the Premier League This Window

The ability of English Premier League clubs to spend money has been demonstrated again in the current transfer window, as teams have invested hundreds of millions of pounds into building squads ahead of the new season, which started on Friday evening.

Among the biggest spenders are Chelsea, Manchester City, and Tottenham. Among the completed deals so far, Chelsea's acquisition of Morgan Rogers for 117 million pounds (equivalent to approximately 2.56 billion rupees) and City's purchase of Elliot Anderson for 116 million pounds are among the leaders.

Tottenham has also spent heavily under Roberto De Zerbi, making acquisitions of Sandro Tonali for 100 million pounds (about 2.19 billion rupees) and Matheus Fernandes for 85 million pounds (approximately 1.86 billion rupees). There is a possibility that Tottenham will soon add another big name, as the potential move of Savinho from Manchester City is valued up to 85 million pounds.

Selling clubs have also benefited. Aston Villa received income from the sale of Rogers, Nottingham Forest from Anderson, and Newcastle United earned significant funds from the sale of Tonali, Bruno Guimarães, and Anthony Gordon. City may also gain substantial profit from the sale of Savinho after selling Tijani Render and Rodri.

The newspaper resource The Financial Times reported this week that Premier League clubs have spent around 2.3 billion pounds, with Chelsea leading in spending.

Here are the 10 most expensive completed Premier League transfers so far

1. Morgan Rogers — from Aston Villa to Chelsea for 117 million pounds (about 2.56 billion rupees). Chelsea broke the British record by signing Rogers from Aston Villa. The 23-year-old England international scored 31 goals in 125 matches for Villa and possesses strength, versatility, and attacking qualities. However, such a high price means expectations at Stamford Bridge will be enormous.

2. Elliot Anderson — from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City for 116 million pounds (about 2.54 billion rupees). City paid 116 million pounds for Anderson after his outstanding season at Forest and establishing himself as an England international. The 23-year-old footballer became the second most expensive British player and is seen as a crucial reinforcement for the midfield, which is undergoing significant reconstruction.

3. Sandro Tonali — from Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur for 100 million pounds (about 2.19 billion rupees). Tottenham broke its transfer record by signing Tonali from Newcastle for a fee that could reach 100 million pounds. The Italian international brings technical quality, defensive strength, and Champions League experience to De Zerbi's midfield, and his departure represents another major sale for Newcastle.

4. Matheus Fernandes — from West Ham United to Tottenham Hotspur for 85 million pounds (about 1.86 billion rupees). Fernandes joined Spurs from a team relegated to the lower division for the stated 85 million pounds. The 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder impressed despite his club's relegation and attracted the interest of several top teams. Tottenham believes he can become a key element of their midfield alongside Tonali.

5. Bruno Guimarães — from Newcastle United to Arsenal for 75 million pounds (about 1.64 billion rupees). Arsenal strengthened its midfield with Brazilian player Guimarães, who established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League at Newcastle. His transfer for 75 million pounds gives Mikel Arteta another technically gifted and physically strong option in central midfield alongside Declan Rice.

6. Jeremy Jacke — from Rennes to Liverpool for 60 million pounds (about 1.31 billion rupees). Liverpool invested 60 million pounds in French centre-back Jacke, continuing to refresh its squad. The 21-year-old arrives from Rennes with a reputation as one of France's brightest defensive prospects and is viewed as a long-term addition to the defensive line.

7. Johan Manzambi — from Freiburg to Aston Villa for 59.5 million pounds (about 1.30 billion rupees). Villa paid about 59.5 million pounds for versatile Swiss midfielder Manzambi, one of Freiburg's standout performers. The arrival of the 20-year-old provides another attacking option and helps offset the loss of Rogers to Chelsea.

8. Maxen Lacroix — from Crystal Palace to Chelsea for 52 million pounds (about 1.14 billion rupees). Chelsea added Frenchman Lacroix after his impressive spell at Crystal Palace, where he helped the club win the FA Cup and the Conference Cup. His speed and versatility give Xabi Alonso another experienced player in defense, which is undergoing significant changes.

9. Jan Paul van Hecke — from Brighton to Tottenham Hotspur for 52 million pounds (about 1.14 billion rupees). Van Hecke became another major investment for Spurs, joining from Brighton for approximately 52 million pounds. His composure on the ball and ability to play from the back make him a natural fit for De Zerbi's preferred style.

10. Andre Santos — from Chelsea to Manchester United for 50 million pounds (about 1.10 billion rupees). Manchester United paid 50 million pounds for Brazilian Santos as Michael Carrick continues to rebuild his midfield. The 22-year-old spent most of his career at Chelsea, developing through loans, and is now expected to be an important part of the new United team. This amount will likely be overshadowed by the imminent arrival of central midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton in a deal valued at over 65 million pounds (about 1.42 billion rupees).
