The Abu Dhabi municipality has decided to temporarily close all parks, recreation areas, and associated beaches, as well as suspend events until further notice. These measures were taken amid ongoing unstable weather conditions in the emirate.
The municipality explained that such steps were necessary as a preventive measure to ensure the safety of residents and protect the population under variable weather and heavy rainfall in several areas of Abu Dhabi.
Furthermore, the Abu Dhabi Police activated a speed reduction system on several roads due to rainy conditions. On streets such as Sweihan-Nahel, Al Khaznah-Remah, Umm Al Oush-Al Razeen, and Al Faya-Al Khatim, the speed was limited to 80 km/h.
These restrictions were introduced as residents of the United Arab Emirates began the weekend with rainy weather; on Friday, downpours accompanied by overcast skies and lower temperatures were observed in various areas.
The UAE National Center for Meteorology had previously forecast variable cloudiness for Friday, with the possibility of cumulus clouds developing over the eastern and southern regions, which could lead to rain in the afternoon. Additionally, the meteorological resource Storm Centre, based in the UAE, published videos demonstrating moderate and heavy precipitation in various parts of the country, including Abu Dhabi.
