A large-scale scientific study conducted by researchers from five different countries established a correlation between Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and a higher level of adverse cardiovascular events in individuals suffering from hypertensive disease.
According to the results, patients with hypertension who have ADHD have an increased probability of experiencing myocardial infarction, stroke, or death due to heart problems. Furthermore, an increased overall risk of death from any cause was noted.
Scientists hypothesize that this relationship may be due to insufficient discipline in adhering to prescribed treatment, which is likely related to the manifestations of the disorder itself.
The results of this study were officially presented in the peer-reviewed journal The Lancet Primary Care.
