Some residents of the United Arab Emirates started their weekend in the rain, as several areas of the country experienced precipitation on Friday amid overcast weather and falling temperatures.
The UAE National Center of Meteorology had previously forecast that Friday would bring partly cloudy weather, with a probability of cumulus cloud formation in the east and south, accompanied by afternoon rains.
The Storm Centre account, based in the UAE and specializing in rain observation, shared video footage of moderate and heavy downpours in parts of the country.
Videos published on X demonstrated how the precipitation transformed from light drizzle to heavy downpour on Hatm Al Shikla road and in other areas of Al Ain. Previously, this account had posted footage of cloudy weather over Fujairah with intermittent drizzling rain.
Due to the rain, Abu Dhabi police activated the speed reduction system on several roads. The speed was limited to 80 km/h on Suweihan-Nahil, Al Hazna-Ramah, Umm Al Osh Al Razin, and Al Faya Al Khatim roads, among others.
As the end of another long and hot summer approaches in the UAE, the country continues to face isolated rainfall in certain locations. Rainfall is expected to be light or moderate, although heavy rain is possible in isolated areas, especially in the east and south of the UAE.
