The oven is often used to heat food in the kitchen, which leads to heavy contamination of its racks. Cleaning the oven itself and its racks is considered a difficult task. In addition to the refrigerator, extractor hood, and fan, stubborn dirt accumulates in the oven over time, and removing it requires a lot of time and effort. However, even after regular washing, dirt can remain on the racks.
Various items can fall onto the racks while cooking, cheese melts, and persistent grease forms, which burns over time. But solving this problem does not require the use of aggressive chemical cleaning agents. There are natural methods that allow you to clean the racks without extra effort, and below are simple and effective ways.
How to clean greasy oven racks:
To protect the surface of a bathtub or large basin, it is recommended to lay an old towel. Then, the oven racks are placed on it, and baking soda is generously sprinkled over them. After that, white vinegar is sprayed onto the soda. When they start to foam, the basin is filled with hot water so that the racks are completely submerged. The racks are left in this state overnight. In the morning, the dried dirt is easily removed with a sponge or brush.
If there are stubborn stains on the oven racks that are difficult to remove, you can prepare a thick paste from baking soda and a small amount of water. This paste should be applied directly to the contaminated areas and left for 5–7 hours or overnight. Afterward, the stains are removed with a scraper, and then the racks are rinsed with clean water.
Additionally, a few drops of lemon or orange essential oil can be added to the baking soda paste. Lemon oil helps naturally break down grease and gives a pleasant aroma, eliminating odors from the oven. The paste is left for 5–7 hours and then rinsed.
For using drying cloths and dish soap: place 4–5 drying cloths at the bottom of the basin, place the racks on top, then add hot water and dish soap. It is recommended to leave the racks in this state for at least 4 hours or overnight. The moisturizing components of the drying cloths help loosen stubborn grease contamination. After some time, the racks are wiped with these same cloths.
If there is only light grease on the racks, it is enough to pour hot water into the basin and add liquid dishwashing detergent. Submerge the racks in this mixture for two to three hours, and then clean them with a sponge.
