The Bollywood 'Dream Girl,' Hema Malini, was long known for her beauty, acting skills, and dances that continue to amaze millions of fans. However, after getting married and having children, she began to distance herself from the film industry, and her career in films gradually became more limited. Her last film in Bollywood was the movie 'Shimla Mirchi,' released in 2020. Because of this, fans are wondering about the possibility of her resuming work in cinema.
Hema Malini herself answered this question, and according to her words, returning to cinema is not her current priority. After the passing of Dharmanand on November 24, 2025, she stopped public appearances, only appearing in necessary political events.
In an interview with E-Times, when asked about returning to cinema, Hema Malini replied that it is difficult to answer because she no longer thinks about it. The actress emphasized that she is currently happy with her life. She shared that she works for people in her parliamentary constituency and then spends time at home with her children and grandchildren. Furthermore, she noted that her children and grandchildren need her and love her. She also lives remembering her late husband Dharmanand, and believes these memories fill her life.
Hema Malini explained that the decision to marry and have children led to a natural decrease in the number of films. Nevertheless, she never completely stopped her activities. In addition to acting, she turned to directing, creating the television series 'Nupur,' which was well received by viewers. After this, she made the film 'Dil Ashna Hai' and participated in many television projects, including 'Uman of India.'
Hema Malini was not limited to cinema and politics; she made classical dance an important part of her life. She prepared ballets such as 'Durga,' 'Mahalakshmi,' 'Radha Krishna,' and 'Draupadi,' based on mythological stories and classical dance. The actress stated that she never performed on stage to film songs. She claimed that she could earn more money if she did so, as classical dance brings less income. Nevertheless, she decided to stick only to classical dance on stage and remained true to this decision.
Hema Malini shared an interesting episode from her career. She spoke about the desire to work again with Raj Kapoor, with whom she had previously collaborated in the film 'Sapnon Ka Saudagar.' Several years later, Raj Kapoor offered her participation in his famous film 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram.' However, Hema declined this role. Notably, Raj Kapoor, according to Hema, anticipated her refusal of this film. Hema explained that she was very happy about the opportunity to work under Raj Kapoor but could not participate in this particular film.
Currently, Hema Malini's words indicate no plans to return to Bollywood. Her life is currently focused on politics, family, time spent with children and grandchildren, and preserving the memory of Dharmanand. Although fans await her appearance on the big screen, Hema Malini is currently living this phase of her life fully.
