The e-commerce platform Meesho forecasts the creation of over 1 million seasonal jobs within its seller and logistics ecosystem to meet the growing demand during the upcoming festive period.
It is expected that job generation will amount to about 6.5 lakh positions in the seller network and approximately 3.75 lakh roles in logistics operations.
A statement from Meesho indicated that the festive season is a crucial time for scaling business across the entire ecosystem and preparing for increased demand. The company anticipates providing over 10 lakh seasonal employment opportunities. Furthermore, it is expected that nearly 1.3 lakh sellers will hire seasonal workers for tasks related to packaging, manufacturing, product release, warehousing, and inventory management, as they build stock, launch new products, and expand their festive collections.
In the logistics sector, Meesho's in-house logistics platform, Valmo, along with third-party logistics partners, will increase its capacity. Seasonal positions in this area will cover delivery, sorting, fulfillment center operations, and supervisory duties.
Meesho emphasized that the festive season continues to generate significant economic opportunities across the entire ecosystem, enabling sellers and logistics partners to grow their businesses while simultaneously creating jobs across India.
This announcement comes as major e-commerce players in India prepare for annual festive sales, which typically account for a substantial portion of these companies' annual sales volume.
