A serious situation arose after the leakage of the second-year BSc (Agriculture) examination paper at Indira Gandhi Agri University (IGAU) in Raipur. Since 70% of the questions that appeared on WhatsApp matched the original exam paper, the university administration promptly cancelled the exam.
Chief Minister Vishnudeep Sai reacted decisively to the incident, ordering a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible.
Given the seriousness of the incident, the university administration formed a special five-member investigative committee. Furthermore, an official complaint is being filed with the police to ascertain all circumstances of the case. Vishnudeep Sai stated that the university administration cancelled the exam and established this five-member committee to investigate the paper leak and ensure severe punishment for all found guilty.
This incident relates to the Anatomy exam (AENT 221 — Pest Management in Crops and Stored Grains-I), which was held on Thursday (August 20). Approximately 500 students from 34 affiliated colleges across the state took the exam between 10 AM and 1 PM.
Immediately after the exam concluded, the document began circulating on social media and WhatsApp. Activists from the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) and the All India Students' Association (ABVP) arrived at the university campus and staged an active protest demanding the cancellation of the exam. Under public pressure, the examination controller issued an official cancellation order in the evening.
According to the university registrar, Dr. Kapil Deva Dipak, the exam paper packets were opened at the centers at 9:30 AM. Although the file circulating on WhatsApp was not an exact copy of the exam paper format, the questions in it matched the original paper by approximately 70%. This was the basis for the decision to cancel the exam, and a request has been made to the Telibanda police station to register a criminal case to determine whether the leak occurred inside or outside the institution.
It should be noted that according to the official notification released by the examination controller, the cancelled AENT 221 exam will be re-conducted in the first week of September 2026.
