Uzbekfilm Studio has debts of about 23 million euros, its assets are mortgaged

The national film studio 'Uzbekfilm' is facing serious financial difficulties: its credit obligations have reached 22.9 million euros, and the studio's property and land plots are mortgaged as collateral for repaying these debts.

Jahongir Akhmedov informed about this situation, who holds the position of first deputy minister of culture and is the director of the Cinematography Agency. He noted that one of the key goals of the new management is to save the film studio and bring it out of its current difficult financial state.

The financial problems of 'Uzbekfilm' are complex. In addition to creditor debt, the enterprise has tax arrears exceeding 1 billion soms. Because of this, there is a risk that 12 vehicles belonging to the film studio may be put up for auction within the next twelve days. The studio also has accumulated debts to employees for wages.

To ensure the independent functioning of 'Uzbekfilm', it must receive annual orders totaling no less than 60 billion soms. Currently, the film studio relies heavily on state orders, and the lack of a stable business model and market mechanisms exacerbates its economic situation.

Akhmedov emphasized not only the financial indicators but also the preservation of the national film studio, which has an almost century-old history. The priorities of the new management are lifting the mortgage encumbrances from the property and developing a sustainable operating model for 'Uzbekfilm'. Previously, Jahongir Akhmedov held the post of director of the Center for Child Content Development before being appointed first deputy minister of culture and director of the Cinematography Agency.
