The United States is preparing to sell fuel tankers to Qatar. Qatar has requested up to four KC-46A aircraft equipped with anti-missile sensors. This deal has been brought to the attention of the US Congress for approval.
According to a source, this delivery is intended to 'strengthen the security of a strategic regional partner.' Furthermore, it is expected that this will enhance Qatar's ability to counter current and future threats, improving its defense capabilities and interoperability with American and allied forces.
Qatar plays a role as a mediator in negotiations between Tehran and Washington, which are currently frozen, and also participates in resolving the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The oil emirate hosts the American Al Udeid air base, which is the most significant in the region. This facility was subjected to attacks by Iran as retaliatory measures during the conflict that began at the end of February.
The emirate's leaders also offered President of the United States Donald Trump a new Air Force One aircraft.
