Glenmark expands injectable drug portfolio in the US with launch of Calcium Gluconate

The American division of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals announced on Friday the market launch of Calcium Gluconate Injection USP in single-dose vials and pharmacy bulk packaging formats, thereby increasing the company's range of injectable products in the country.

According to a report filed by Glenmark Pharma with the BSE, Calcium Gluconate Injection USP is bioequivalent and therapeutically equivalent to the reference medicinal product Calcium Gluconate Injection manufactured by Fresenius Kabi USA.

The new product is available in concentrations of 1000 mg/10 ml and 5000 mg/50 ml in single-dose vials, as well as in a pharmacy bulk pack of 10000 mg/100 ml.

Calcium gluconate is an injectable preparation designed to raise calcium levels in the body. Calcium plays a critical role in maintaining heart health and bone strength, and according to the Cleveland Clinic, this drug is typically administered by medical professionals in hospital or clinic settings.

According to sales data from IQVIA, the annual sales volume of Calcium Gluconate Injection in the US market reached approximately $69.9 million for the 12 months ending in June 2026.

Mark Kikuchi, President and Head of Business for Glenmark in North America, noted that the launch of Calcium Gluconate Injection USP marks another important step in strengthening Glenmark's US business in the field of injectables and expanding its portfolio for hospitals.

He added that this reflects the disciplined execution of a strategy to create a differentiated and sustainable business in the injectable sector that meets institutional needs, supports greater supply sustainability, and deepens Glenmark's significance throughout the US healthcare system.

This release came a day after Glenmark Pharma reported receiving approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray.

These recent launches by Glenmark Pharma occur against the backdrop of strong company growth, which reported a multiple increase in consolidated profit after tax to 482.83 crore rupees in the first quarter of fiscal year 27, compared to 46.97 crore rupees in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
