US Announces Economic War Against Iran, Oil Prices Rise

The U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, stated on Thursday that the United States will impose 'the harshest sanctions in history' against Iran, and such economic pressure is likely to prevent the resumption of hostilities.

This statement followed a day after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the start of 'the most devastating economic operation ever conducted against any country,' which will include an 'economic war and isolation on an unprecedented scale.'

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghi reacted to this initiative, stating that the so-called 'Economic Day D' is a diversion from America's own crisis, characterized by unprecedented debt and rising interest rates.

Araghi also characterized the U.S. strategy as 'an intensification of failed policies' that 'will only bring further defeat.' Following this announcement, the price of Brent crude oil sharply increased, closing at $93.78 per barrel.
