Casa Ínsula presents a project conceived by the design team, exploring themes related to TANAT, PEMO, and Carlos García Noriega. The text reflects on the nature of consumption and the existence of this specific place in Mérida.
There is a reflection on the desire for this space to remain in its current state, devoid of windows and furniture, ready to take a different path. This imagined scenario includes flooding from a storm, plants penetrating the floor, the coexistence of birds and bats, and the erosion of limestone by raindrops until it reaches groundwater.
It questions whether the house is complete only when inhabited or when given a name. At this moment, the space allows for various future possibilities: it could be a ruin, an observatory, a microcosm, a cenote, or a landscape contained within concrete walls that express the desire for a jungle confined in the urban area.
The project raises the question of when architecture is considered finished, suggesting that the unfinished state also represents a potentiality.
