Research indicates that Brazilian workers suffer digital interruptions on average after 40 minutes

A new study, conducted by Censuswide commissioned by Amazon, analyzed the behavior of 2,000 participants in Brazil and revealed patterns regarding work interruptions. The results indicate that, on average, the first digital distraction occurs around the 40-minute mark, with half of the respondents reporting that this distraction period falls between 30 minutes and one hour.

The collected data offers an overview of what affects worker productivity, especially when they are trying to focus on tasks.

Additionally, 93% of respondents stated that creativity and concentration ability are, to some degree, harmed by the use of internet-connected devices.

Researchers discovered that 64% of respondents admitted to forgetting important ideas because they could not record them in time due to interruptions. Furthermore, among those who set work goals, 72% agree that digital distractions hinder the execution of these goals. This level of annoyance is even higher among younger individuals, with rates exceeding 80% in the 18 to 34 age group.

While mapping the main problems, researchers also investigated what workers expect from new work tools. Although ease of use was the most mentioned aspect, it was noteworthy that 40% of respondents expressed a desire for an environment free of notifications, applications, or internet connection.

Jacques Benain, Amazon's director of devices, commented on the findings, stating in a note that the data confirms what the company frequently hears from its customers in Brazil: people need tools that support concentration, not contradict it.
