The women's national football team of Uzbekistan has received information about its opponents in the first stage of the intercontinental playoffs for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.

According to a statement from the Football Association of Uzbekistan, following the draw, Uzbekistan will compete against teams from Papua New Guinea, Ghana, and South Africa.

The matches of the first stage of the intercontinental playoffs will take place in a centralized format from November to December 2026. These matches will determine which teams can advance to the 2027 World Cup.

Uzbekistan team advances to the quarterfinals of 'Games of the Future' in phygital football

The Uzbek team FC Olympic Phygital successfully passed the stage and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 'Games of the Future – 2026' event in the phygital football discipline.

The ticket to the playoffs was won by the team after facing the South African club Orlando Pirates Fives. During the digital stage, the Uzbeks achieved a convincing victory with a score of 4:0. However, on the traditional field, they suffered a defeat, losing 2:6.

Since the aggregate score was equal, the decisive moment was determined in a penalty shootout, where the team from Chirchik managed to win 3:2.

In the upcoming quarterfinal, the Uzbek team will play against the FFK 'Rotor CISS' team. The phygital football competitions are being held at the Qazaqstan sports complex and are scheduled to conclude on August 9. The total prize fund for this discipline is estimated at 625 thousand dollars.

Earlier, a representative of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan explained to Podrobno.uz correspondent the reason why participants in the Games now represent clubs, and their achievements are not counted in the national medal tally.
