A video clip surfaced from the state school complex in Pishta village, Banda district, Uttar Pradesh state, showing the poor condition of the educational institution. The recording shows students in school uniforms standing in water about two feet deep. It is reported that on August 15th, despite the flooding, the students held the flag-raising ceremony and recited patriotic slogans.
In the video, children stand before the tricolor amidst the water, and they are also said to be singing the national anthem and paying tribute to fallen heroes. School teachers, conversely, participated in the event from drier ground. Following the appearance of this video, local residents raised questions with local authorities and representatives of the people.
Residents expressed dissatisfaction that after 80 years of independence, children have to celebrate Freedom Day under such adverse conditions, accusing responsible officials of ignoring the school's problems. However, after the video went viral on social media, the matter reached the district administration. District Director Amit Aseri immediately took action.
The District Director dispatched the Chief Executive Officer and the Head of the Basic Education Department to the site for a thorough investigation. Reports were requested from officials. Based on the identified needs, a decision was made to resolve issues with the school campus and access roads. Initially, a drainage system was organized to remove the accumulated water from the area.
The District Director also instructed improvements to the road surface for student access. Furthermore, orders were given to raise the level of the low-lying school field by adding soil. The administration stated that other campus-related problems would also be addressed.
As a result of these actions, work to improve the school has begun. Work is underway to repair access roads and raise the low-lying land. The administration emphasizes that the goal is to ensure that children do not face flooding problems during classes and movement.
This incident in Banda occurred while the new generation in Bundkhandh, known as 'Generation Alpha,' actively asserts its rights and demands better conditions. The video sparked a public discussion about the actual state of public schools and the level of basic services provided to children. Despite the government implementing programs to improve the condition and increase opportunities of public educational institutions, local residents questioned why the flooding problem persists at Pishta school despite existing plans and directives.
After the video went viral, the administration took the situation seriously and sent officials to assess the situation. District Director Amit Aseri stated that the video was reviewed, after which the CDO and BSA were dispatched for inspection. Based on the report received, work is being carried out according to the school's needs. According to the District Director, the road to the school will be repaired, and the low-lying field will be raised by adding soil. He added that any other issues related to the school will be resolved. Thanks to the administration's actions, campus improvement work for the children has already started.
