Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC held a meeting on August 20, 2026, to discuss final proposals for a new tariff methodology for the railway sector. According to Uzbekistan Railways, international consultants supported by the World Bank, as well as specialists from relevant ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan, participated in the working meeting.
This meeting is part of the process of reforming and transforming the railway sector of Uzbekistan, which is being carried out in accordance with Presidential Decree No. PP-329 dated October 10, 2023, 'On measures for the fundamental reform of the railway transport sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan' and Order No. F-70 dated December 31, 2024, 'On accelerating transformation processes in the railway sector.'
During the meeting, proposals for the new tariff methodology, prepared by local experts with the assistance of the World Bank, were reviewed. Participants discussed the introduction of transparent mechanisms for determining tariffs for transport services, increasing the efficiency of using railway infrastructure, and creating conditions for attracting foreign investment.
The main goal of the new methodology is to enhance the economic independence and competitiveness of the railway system. Following the meeting, further steps were determined to refine the document based on participants' suggestions. The expert group agreed to accelerate the completion of the tariff methodology development and prepare the document for approval in the near future.
