Study shows that long breaks between meals increase the risk of chronic diseases in the elderly

A longitudinal study conducted by Swedish scientists established a correlation between prolonged intervals between meals and the faster onset of chronic ailments in the elderly population.

It was found that fasting periods exceeding fourteen hours are associated with a more significant annual increase in the total number of chronic diseases, as well as cardiovascular and neuropsychiatric disorders.

This relationship was particularly noticeable among the age group over 78 years old. The results of this analysis were officially presented in the scientific journal Journal of Internal Medicine.
