Former Punjab Chief Minister Channi Took Master's Exam at University of Punjab

The former Prime Minister of Punjab and Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi appeared in an unusual guise on Thursday. He was taking his final Master's (MA) examination in 'Public Administration' at the University of Punjab in Chandigarh. After completing the exam, Channi expressed pride in being a student of this university.

He reported that he has currently scored over 70 percent of the results obtained. Furthermore, he plans to continue his studies at the same university to obtain a PhD degree.

Channi noted: 'Today was my last Master's exam in Public Administration. My previous result has already come out, and I scored over 70 percent.' He added that after obtaining the MA degree, he intends to conduct research on the topic of political reforms. According to the former Prime Minister, the topic of his research will be related to returning Punjab to the right path through political reforms.

He stated that he wants to develop a model where education is free, and Punjab develops as a welfare state. Channi asserted that such a model can be implemented in the future if the Congress party gains power in Punjab.

During this time, Channi was also questioned about his absence from the meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC). He explained that he had received prior permission from the party's top leadership. Channi emphasized that CWC meetings are held regularly, and the next one may take place in one to two weeks or a month, but if he missed the exam, his entire year could be ruined.

He also mentioned that missing the exam would negatively affect the start of his research work. When answering questions about alleged internal disagreements within the Congress, Channi declined to comment, stating that today he only wanted to talk about education.

AAP MLA Mit Hair ridiculed Channi's taking the exam. He expressed hope that Channi would score well but also stated that the Congress would surely fail. Touching upon the issue of Channi's absence from the CWC meeting, Mit Hair asked if he would miss such a meeting if he were the Congress leader. He also noted that the CWC meeting was the day before Channi's exam.

Attacking the internal tensions within the Congress, Mit Hair claimed that 'there are no hidden factions within the party, and when given the opportunity, leaders try to push each other aside.'
