From August 18 to 21, 2026, a delegation from Russia visited Uzbekistan to expand bilateral cooperation in the field of public financial management and treasury services. The delegation was headed by Alexander Mikhailik, Deputy Head of the Federal Treasury of Russia, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan.
During the visit, representatives of the Russian Federal Treasury and the Treasury Service Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan held discussions. The main topics included the centralization of accounting processes in state institutions, budget accounting management, and improving financial reporting systems. Attention was also paid to the digitalization of public financial management and the implementation of modern information technologies in treasury operations.
Bilateral treasury interaction is carried out based on the Memorandum of Technical Cooperation signed in 2017 between the Federal Treasury of Russia and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, as well as the Joint Cooperation Program valid from 2024 to 2026. Additionally, partnership activities are regulated by a second Memorandum of Technical Cooperation, which was signed on December 9, 2024, between the Federal Treasury of Russia and the Treasury Service Committee of Uzbekistan.
During the delegation's stay, officials plan to develop a new trilateral cooperation program for the period 2027–2029. According to data from the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, the goal of the meetings is to strengthen operational ties between the treasury bodies of both countries and implement best practices in the field of public financial administration.
