Google has begun providing students with AI-powered learning tools to help them prepare for entrance and standardized exams. This was announced after Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, posted a multiple-choice question on the X platform.
The question asked users to fill in the blank in the phrase: 'Search can now help prepare for tests for _________,' where the correct answer was 'All of the above.' This indicates that users can utilize Google Search to prepare for various competitive and standardized assessments.
The system allows students to create personalized practice tests on any subject, including humanities, mathematics, and foreign languages. Furthermore, it generates quizzes for preparation for tests such as ACT, AP, ENEM, GRE, JEE, LSAT, MCAT, NEET, and SAT. These tests leverage expert content for preparation through partnerships with educational companies like The Princeton Review, Careers360, PhysicsWallah, and Akira Enem.
Pichai stated that Google is launching new learning features and offering free subscriptions to Google AI for college students in over 140 countries. As part of this update, a dedicated student hub will appear in Gemini, helping users stay organized and access all learning tools in one place.
This hub includes workbooks that use diagnostic tests to identify a student's strengths and knowledge gaps. Based on the data received, Gemini can generate concise learning plans tailored to the student's goals. Students can also use flashcards and practice quizzes through this hub.
Google is also integrating a Deep Research feature into Gemini Live, allowing students to request research reports and discuss them in a conversational manner on the go. Google Search gains new capabilities to help understand concepts and prepare for tests. Students can now generate interactive visualizations to explain complex topics, take practice tests on any subject, including standardized ones, and use Google Lens for step-by-step material study.
Additionally, students can organize projects using workbooks and create custom files to optimize their study process. New tools are being introduced for educators in Google Classroom, enabling teachers to customize the AI experience for students according to the curriculum and track progress in real time. The Classroom app, integrated with Gemini, will allow teachers to safely create lesson plans.
As part of its 'back to school' campaign, Google is offering one year of free access to Google AI Pro for eligible college students in the US. This plan includes the use of Gemini Spark, increased usage limits, and 5 TB of storage. College students outside the US can receive Google AI Plus for free, which also includes increased usage limits and 400 GB of storage, along with bundled discounts on Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium.
