During a meeting attended by Uzbekistan, a concept for an international treaty on the return of foreign assets was developed. This concept is a draft that outlines the main principles and mechanisms of a document potentially subject to future adoption.
The joint events were held at a meeting of deputy heads of state prosecutors of CIS countries in St. Petersburg. Delegations from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, as well as the Executive Secretary of the Coordination Council of CIS Prosecutors Yuri Zhdanov, participated in the event chaired by Deputy Prosecutor of Russia Petr Gorodov.
The main focus of the meeting was on contemporary issues related to the return of foreign assets and new mechanisms for their resolution. The parties developed an international treaty concept within the CIS, defining joint actions in this area.
Participants exchanged national experience and considered proposals for improving interdepartmental cooperation and expanding direct working contacts. The results of the negotiations will be used in the process of preparing for the 36th meeting of the Coordination Council of CIS Prosecutors, which will take place in Kazan on September 30.
