Imran Hashmi's film 'Avarapan 2' collected 150 million at the global box office in six days

Imran Hashmi's film 'Avarapan 2', which premiered in theaters on August 14, is showing impressive box office collections worldwide. After a record start during the first weekend, the movie not only passed the test successfully on Monday but also maintained strong positions during the weekdays.

The original 'Avarapan', released in 2007, although it did not achieve great success in cinemas at the time, gained cult status due to its emotional content and timeless songs. Now, almost two decades later, the sequel benefits from this former popularity, and audiences are flocking to theaters.

According to Sacnilk data, 'Avarapan 2' started with an impressive 22 million rupees on its first day, Friday. On Saturday, the film's revenue sharply increased by approximately 55%, bringing in 33.75 million rupees in one day. Due to the Independence Day holiday and high public interest, the number of shows was increased. On Friday, 9,033 shows were running across the country, and on Saturday, this number rose to 10,496. Sunday was also successful, with the film earning 26 million rupees.

Typically, after the weekend, there is a significant drop in film earnings starting Monday, but 'Avarapan 2' managed to hold its ground during the weekdays. Despite a slight dip on Monday, the film earned a solid 9.25 million rupees. On Tuesday, the fifth day, the trend remained positive, and with an increase in the number of shows, the film added 9.75 million rupees. However, on Wednesday, the sixth day, revenue decreased by 16%, amounting to 6.75 million rupees.

Thanks to this consistent income, 'Avarapan 2' surpassed the 100 million rupee mark in the domestic market. The total net collection in India reached 107.50 million rupees, while the total gross collection in India amounted to 128.29 million rupees. Including international markets, the film's global gross collection reached 153.59 million rupees. Thus, Imran Hashmi, starring as the main character, presented such a picture after 23 years that independently exceeded the 100 million rupee threshold only in India.

This film, directed by Nitin Kakkar, also features Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in leading roles.
