The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has published the payment schedule for recipients of the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant for August 2026. According to the announcement, funds will be transferred between August 24 and 26.
The agency strongly recommends that beneficiaries check their payment status before the distribution period begins to ensure the availability of funds. Furthermore, SASSA has announced the launch of a new digital service designed to improve access to grant information.
SASSA has introduced a self-service channel via WhatsApp specifically for COVID-19 SRD grant beneficiaries. The agency clarified that this platform is designed to simplify obtaining information, eliminating the need to visit a local office or contact the agency's call center.
SASSA stated: 'This channel allows beneficiaries to receive key information without visiting offices or calling the Call Center. The service is automated and available via WhatsApp.'
In parallel, SASSA has also published the payment schedule for September. It is planned that Old Age Grants will be paid on September 2, Disability Grants on September 3, and Child Grants on September 4.
The agency urges all recipients to use digital platforms, including the new WhatsApp service, to receive updates and information regarding grants.
