The government construction company 'National Buildings Construction Corporation' (NBCC) has cancelled the e-auction of residential flats located on Africa Avenue near Chanakyapuri in New Delhi. The company issued an official notice stating that this auction, which was scheduled under the July 17, 2026 notice, is being terminated with immediate effect due to administrative reasons.
NBCC made this decision by utilizing rights reserved in its original application documents. The company did not disclose the specific administrative reasons behind this decision in its notification, nor did it clarify whether the auction has been postponed indefinitely.
This e-auction was organized for the sale of freehold residential units in 'Avenue Towers' on Africa Avenue. This area is considered extremely secure and prime because it is close to several major foreign embassies and international diplomatic missions.
Full Refund of Earnest Money and Processing Fees
To ensure transparency in the process, NBCC has announced the full refund of the earnest money (EMD) deposited by applicants and the auction processing fees paid through the RailTel portal. According to the company, this amount will be directly credited to the bank accounts provided by the applicants within three working days of the August 19 notice.
NBCC's move is significant because the processing fee was declared non-refundable in the original auction document. However, the company clarified that it is returning this fee 'as a gesture of goodwill and without any legal obligation' in the interest of the applicants. Furthermore, NBCC also clarified that this decision should not be considered a precedent for any future tender, auction, or other process.
Way Forward for Potential Buyers
No new date has been announced for the e-auction yet. NBCC has advised interested buyers and applicants to regularly monitor the official NBCC website for future updates and new auction terms related to the Africa Avenue project.
