Eastern Uzbekistan wins bronze at the World Junior Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship

The Greco-Roman team of Uzbekistan secured third place in the overall standings at the World Junior Championship in Slovakia, winning two silver and one bronze medal.

Greco-Roman Wrestling Results

Dostonbek Oripov won silver in the under 60 kg category, and Sohibjamol Esbusinova won silver in the under 53 kg division. Nilufar Nurmuhammadova received a bronze medal in the under 50 kg class.

After the completion of the Greco-Roman competition, the Uzbekistan team scored 95 points, which allowed them to take third place in the overall standings, behind Russia and Iran.

Further Competitions

Uzbekistan continues to aim for additional medals in women's and freestyle wrestling. Mukhaiyo Narzilloeva reached the final in the under 65 kg division, where she will face Margarita Salazariana from Russia. Feruza Kairatdinova will fight for bronze in the under 62 kg category against the winner of the bout between Ozdenur Ozmez from Turkey and Ivan Zhu from China.

Three additional representatives from Uzbekistan are scheduled to participate in the preliminary rounds of the freestyle and women's wrestling tournaments.

The Uzbekistan national team took second place in the overall team standings of the international traditional wrestling competition 'Aba Kurashi,' which was held in the Turkish province of Hatay. In the individual standings, Uzbek athletes won one gold and two bronze medals.

The nine-athlete Uzbekistan team finished in second place in the team standings. In the individual competitions, Anvar Eshpulatov distinguished himself by winning in the weight category up to 55 kilograms. Kuvonchbek Sadinov and Sardorbek Abdurakhmanov also reached the podium, receiving one bronze medal each in the categories up to 60 kilograms and up to 85 kilograms, respectively.

Delegations from member and observer states of the Organization of Turkic States participated in this tournament, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.

The event was organized by the World Youth Fund of the Turkic World, the Federation of Traditional Wrestling of Turkey, as well as the municipalities of Hatay and Yayladag, with the support of the Organization of Turkic States. Honorary guests included ambassadors and the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the OTS, Binali Yildirim.

It is worth noting that previously, four Uzbek freestyle wrestlers had been prize winners at the World Championship for athletes under 17, which was held in the capital of Azerbaijan.
