At the World Robotics Conference 2026, held on August 19th, Xiaomi demonstrated its new generation humanoid robot, which underwent four months of preparation at an automotive plant. This robot, continuing the Tieda product line, stands 1.70 meters tall and weighs 66 kilograms. It is equipped with 66 degrees of freedom, 33 of which are in its arms, and features an integrated light gray body with a matte silver helmet head.
During the presentation, the robot performed the functions of a florist, independently selecting bouquets and handing them to visitors, as well as shaking hands and engaging in friendly fist bumps. These actions are based not on pre-set scenarios but on autonomous decision-making driven by models.
Although it is currently a prototype, it will be sent to Europe after its debut. Before public demonstration, this prototype completed its training on the production line. In March, founder Lei Jun stated that robots had begun internships at factories, and in the future, a large number of such machines will operate in Xiaomi's factories.
The humanoid utilizes the open-source Xiaomi-Robotics-0 base, which includes multimodal perception and reinforcement learning, enabling it to achieve autonomous operation at nut self-tapping stations and when processing material boxes. Lei Jun emphasized the difference between laboratory conditions and production: in the lab, success might be achieved after ten thousand failures, whereas in a factory, success requires achieving ten thousand consecutive tasks.
At the nut processing station in the casting workshop, the robot operated autonomously for three hours, demonstrating a 90.2% success rate in installation and maintaining a rhythm of 76 seconds. In July, Xiaomi published additional video materials showing the robot performing the task of sorting a central console side cover: it reached into a material box, changed grip to adjust the clamp, and placed the flexible cover into the corresponding slot.
The robot also demonstrated box folding skills, using its dexterous hand to open a lock ring, coordinating the work of both hands, and moving the folded boxes to the storage area. Lei Jun reported that thanks to improvements, the success rate at the nut processing station increased from 90.2% to 98%, and the loading of covers and box folding reached 90%; for the first time, work with long-term flexible parts was implemented.
Xiaomi began exploring the field of humanoid robotics around 2021, releasing the first CyberOne Tieda the following year, which focused on interaction and had 21 degrees of freedom in its entire body, far from industrial level. In terms of positioning, the robot integrates into the Xiaomi ecosystem, which combines human, transport, and home, utilizing a full-size bipedal route, a 'brain plus cerebellum' hybrid architecture, its proprietary Mi-Sense depth visualization system, and the open-source Xiaomi-Robotics-0 model.
In July, Lei Jun noted that the embodied model Xiaomi-Robotics-1 ranked first globally in the Robocasa365 and RoboDojo benchmarks. On August 18th, Xiaomi reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of 108.9 billion yuan, a decrease of 6.1% but an increase of 9.9% compared to the previous quarter. Meanwhile, research and development expenses amounted to 9.23 billion, an increase of 18.9%, mainly directed towards intelligent electric vehicles and artificial intelligence. Lei Jun added that over five years, R&D spending exceeded 100 billion yuan, of which 60 billion was spent on AI over three years. The business related to robots remains at the prototype stage without independent external income, and its value lies more in reducing production costs and accumulating technology.
