Trump threatens trade sanctions against Iran; Araghchi responds, calling it economic terrorism

US President Donald Trump announced the most extensive economic measure against Iran, issuing a stern warning. He stated that any country providing Iran with economic aid or any support would face serious financial consequences. Trump termed this campaign 'Economic D-Day' and mentioned his intention to isolate Iran.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reacted to this warning, criticizing the US position. Publishing a message on social media, Araghchi asserted that 'Economic D-Day' is an attempt to distract from America's own economic problems. He characterized US policy as economic terrorism, stating that it threatens the sovereignty and economy of the entire world.

Araghchi also responded to Trump's statements via social media, noting that the US is currently grappling with rising interest rates and debt. He warned that repeating failed strategies would lead to further losses for America and cause discontent among the Iranian people. To substantiate his claims, Araghchi shared a report from The New York Times, which stated that US national debt had reached $40 trillion.

President Trump reported that despite America offering the biggest opportunity to reach an agreement, Iran missed it. Following this, he announced an intensification of economic pressure on Iran. In Trump's view, the goal of these measures is to achieve Iran's economic isolation and prevent it from acquiring nuclear capabilities.

Presenting his arguments, Trump claimed that the Iranian navy was destroyed, its aviation was ruined, and its military factories were devastated. He also spoke of the weakening Iranian currency and the country's extremely difficult situation, although it was emphasized that these were merely statements by President Trump himself.

Trump warned against operations such as oil smuggling, the use of swap lines, money transfers, exchange house activities, ship registration, and cooperation with front companies related to Iran. He called on US allies to isolate Iran, insisting that Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons.

Donald Trump warns Iran, calling himself its banker, causing volatility in crude oil prices

The situation in the Middle East remains tense; whenever there are hopes for peace between the US and Iran, events occur that cause unrest worldwide. Recently, Donald Trump issued another serious warning to Iran, which triggered sharp fluctuations in crude oil prices.

Trump characterized the participants in peace negotiations from the Iranian side as cunning and proposed two options for resolving the conflict. Following this, the price of Brent Crude on the international market sharply rose again, approaching $90 per barrel. The rise in oil prices increases the risk of inflation globally.

According to a Reuters report, in a phone interview with Real Americas Voice, Donald Trump stated that engaging in dialogue with Iran is extremely difficult because the people participating in negotiations on his behalf are very cunning and use incorrect tactics. He noted that Iran's economic situation is very difficult, and its economy is in a precarious position. Mentioning confiscated Iranian assets, the American president added that they cannot take out loans, and that he controls all their funds, which are quite significant, asserting: 'I am their banker.'

In connection with resolving the conflict with Iran, Trump put forward two options accompanied by a warning. The first option is to maintain the current status quo, meaning America can support the existing strategy and observe Iran's continuous economic weakening. The second option involves America carrying out an even larger military strike against Iran.

During the war between the US and Iran, attempts at peace negotiations, mediated by Pakistan, proved unsuccessful. His claims appear unsubstantiated once again. These statements by Trump, containing a warning to Iran, came at a time when Pakistan announced on Tuesday that the US and Iran were approaching some agreement.

The serious warning issued by Donald Trump to Iran once again caused turbulence in the global crude oil market. At the time of publication, Brent Crude oil prices were trading at $89.70 per barrel, and the cost of WTI Crude Oil also jumped to $84 per barrel, while prices for Merban Crude showed an increase.
