Russian specialists are training Samarkand doctors in methods for alleviating suffering and caring for seriously ill children who receive free assistance. Local experts with practical experience in this field are also participating in the work.
Among the Russian specialists who arrived to conduct the classes are Professor Elena Polevichenko, a leading specialist of the Ministry of Health of Russia in palliative care for children, and Elena Sapego, head of the Center for Palliative Care for Children at the Sverdlovsk Region Clinical Hospital.
According to Polevichenko, the seminar was organized at the initiative of the National Agency for Social Protection of Uzbekistan, which invited participants to Samarkand.
The seminar involves an exchange of knowledge and experience regarding modern approaches to palliative care for children, interaction with seriously ill children and their families, as well as the effective organization of medical and social support in complex cases.
According to information from the Viloyat Health Department, it is planned to send local specialists to Ufa so that they can directly familiarize themselves with the Russian experience and implement effective working methods in Samarkand.
Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals for improving the palliative care system, including oncological and hematological care, in early June. At that time, plans were announced to open a palliative care center in Samarkand in the form of a hospice for children suffering from severe and incurable diseases.
