Uzbekistan's Prosecutor General's Office Launches Electronic Platform to Detect Shadow Economy

The Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan has developed and implemented an electronic system called the 'Shadow Economy Map.' This platform operates on artificial intelligence technologies and is designed to detect potential threats related to illegal operations and reduced budget revenues.

According to information provided by the agency itself, this system covers 85 different industries, as well as 14 administrative regions and 208 districts across the country. Approximately one hundred different indicators are used to automatically identify concealed turnover volumes, operation without necessary licenses, decreased profitability, and return on investment.

Information systems from sixteen ministries and agencies are integrated into this platform, ensuring real-time data input. Risks identified by the system are classified into three levels: 'green,' 'yellow,' and 'red.' This categorization allows for the prompt detection of violations, targeted inspections, and avoidance of unjustified interference in the work of honest entrepreneurs.

Previously, Zafar Kashimov, founder of the 'Korzinka' hypermarket chain, raised issues with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev regarding problems entrepreneurs face when concluding lease agreements. He noted that part of the rent payment is often transferred 'under the table,' emphasizing that official documentation of such expenses can be more beneficial for businesses.
